Around their first birthday. A first visit is short and deliberately uneventful: a look, a count, a ride in the chair. Its real purpose is to make the room ordinary before anything ever needs doing in it.
Yes. We work together with parents throughout, and we explain what we are doing in language your child can follow rather than talking over their head.
That is common and it is not a problem. We move at the pace the child sets, and we would far rather spend a first appointment building trust than get through a checklist.
